During university holidays she also continued her equine theme grooming (and nannying) for Mark Todd (3 day event rider) and Mark Barry (3 day event rider). She was also a member of the Birmingham University Riding Team.

Anna qualified from Birmingham University in 1993 and spent post graduate NHS placements in Reading and Birmingham, also specialising in sports injuries working with Mosely RFC (2nd Division) and Warwickshire County Cricket Team. Other ’human’ work includes a period working in The Cavendish Clinic (Harley Street, London), and Bisham Abby Clinic (National Sports Centre, Marlow, Buckinghamshire).

Following an 18 month training through ACPAT based with Amanda Sutton (MCSP SRP), Anna set up her own practice in May 1997. From 1998 – 2006 Anna was the official physiotherapist to the British Equestrian Team and attended the World Equestrian Games at Rome 1998, Jerez 2002 and Aachan 2006, the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympics and all the Europeans for Dressage and Three Day Eventing in 1999, 2003 and 2005.

Anna was one of the 3 Veterinary Physiotherapists who attended the 2011 Olympics Test Event in Greenwich. She was part of a large team of Veterinary Surgeons and Farriers, providing an on call service to any of the equine athletes that required attention.

Anna Johnson co-ordinated and headed a team of fourteen veterinary physiotherapists as part of the host nation’s veterinary services for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. This involved organizing training days, accommodation, equipment, logistics, rostering and helping set up the vet clinic in Greenwich Park, as well as treating horses from all over the world during the games. Anna thoroughly enjoyed the role and experiencing the buzz of London during this fabulous Olympics.

Anna has competed in British Eventing up to Novice level and British Show- Jumping to Discovery level. Recently she has been given the amazing opportunity to ride and compete Joy Dawe’s Schoolmaster, ‘Deal Clover’ at advanced medium level in Dressage. Anna is married to Grant Chanter ( A BEVA accredited Equine Dental Technician – Tel: 07768 094850). Anna has 2 children and through them is discovering the delight of being a pony club mother.

Despite all this horsey background, Anna also is passionate about theatre and dance having done ballet and dance as a child and played piano and violin. This musical side was possibly due to her father who was a professional musician (percussion).

Anna often says she is ‘wasted’ as a physio…………….“after all I could have been Kylie!!!”.

Val has since enjoyed working at all British International 3-Day Events, and still works as a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in the NHS. Since 2012 Val has been working alongside Joss Gray (event rider and trainer), who is training the Qatar Event Team aiming for the 2014 Asian Games. She has been treating the horses and riders at their base in Oxfordshire and was also invited in December 2012 to Doha by the Qatar Equestrian Federation, to treat their first team showjumpers.

She has her own horse, a retired eventer, which she competes locally at unaffiliated events.

In 2009 Anna was physiotherapist to the GB mens dragonboat team at their world championships in Prague and has travelled with the Gold medal winning single carriage driving team to their world championships in Rome in 2006. She regularly provides physiotherapy at major three day events both here and abroad, including Badminton, Burghley, Saumur and Boekelo and was one of the fourteen treating veterinary physiotherapists at the London 2012 Olympic games in Greenwich.

Anna has written articles about physiotherapy for Horse Health Magazine. Horse and Hound, British Dressage magazine and gave interviews for local papers and radio about her role at the Olympics.

Anna has always had canine companions and currently has two working Labradors. She has also had experience in canine hydrotherapy.
Anna has a personal interest in dressage, having competed up to medium level and She currently has two horses, one of which she enjoys eventing when she has time! She is married with a son.

Back in 1995, Donna’s daughter joined The Vale of Aylesbury Hunt Pony Club and Donna went on to the committee to help organise their various events. 10 years later, Donna was District Commissioner for 5 very happy years.

After having her own pony as a child, Donna has now had her own horse again for the last 10 years. He is a 16.2 Irish Draught/Thoroughbred gelding that is an absolute gentleman and a pleasure to own. Donna competes for riding club in Dressage and Dressage to Music competitions having reached the National finals in 2007.

Donna joined Anna Johnson and her team in December 2008 and is jointly (with Debby Bignell) responsible for the day to day running of the office in Ford.

Jade has a passion for sporting injuries always being heavily involved with elite and amateur athletes alongside her private and veterinary work. Jade continues to be involved and work with local and school rugby teams, British Judo and the ENB (English National Ballet). From these experiences Jade understands the further stages of rehabilitation and the demands the body undergoes at these top levels, physically and mentally.

Jade’s main hobby growing up was horse riding competing in all Pony Club teams and events. Jade continues to ride and has just bought herself a new horse with intention of eventing again. Jade also enjoys weight training and running in her free time, competing in Hyrox and Turf Games events.

She then went on to study at Hartpury University. She achieved a Master’s in Veterinary Physiotherapy, allowing her to register with ACPAT as a category A physio. Her commitment to professional development allows her to provide the highest quality of care for her clients. Rebecca was delighted to have been offered the opportunity to work for Anna after graduating.

From a young age, Rebecca’s love for animals, has driven her desire to pursue a career in veterinary physiotherapy. She started riding horses at an early age and was fortunate to be able to compete on her own horse within the Pony Club. Outside of her professional life, Rebecca remains an avid horse rider, enjoying hacking around the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside and competing at local events. She now lives in Longwick with her partner and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Sarah now applies her advanced clinical skills and evidence-based physiotherapy techniques to optimise recovery, performance, and wellbeing in both companion and performance animals.

Originally from Buckinghamshire, Sarah grew up surrounded by working dogs and was actively involved in Pony Club. She now enjoys spending time with her own dogs and horse and continues to ride regularly.
